Short BIO

Martin Epafras Kimanya is passionate about protecting and promoting the safety of food and ensuring fair practices in the food trade. He currently provides technical support to the East African Community Secretariat and Partner States through the EU-EAC Market-Access Upgrade Programme in harmonisation of food standards and Sanitary & Phytosanitary (SPS) measures. Martin has over 20 years of experience in food safety, working with the food regulatory institutions, academia and private sector at national, regional and international level. Martin is an Associate Professor of Food Safety and Nutrition Sciences. He holds a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences, and Master’s & Bachelor’s degrees in Food Science and Technology.
